Who this service is for
WooCommerce store owners and print shops that sell personalised products with FPD and want a product designer that is still being developed and supported. FPD's publisher says existing licences keep running, but development, services and support have moved to its new platform, Chamevo, and its Genius export and AI services went offline on 1 June 2026 (source: Chamevo blog, 9 Jan 2026, accessed 30 Sep 2026).
You have two honest options: move to Chamevo, the publisher's own path, or move to another WooCommerce product designer. This page covers the second option with Cmsmart. The Cmsmart plugin has been in active development since 2016; version 2.16.1 was released on 28 Sep 2026. If FPD still does everything you need and you do not depend on the retired services, staying put for now is a valid choice, and the assessment will tell you so.
What moves and what is rebuilt
FPD runs inside WooCommerce, so most of your store data never has to move.

What the Cmsmart plugin gives you after the switch
- Designer tools: text (including curved text), clipart, customer photo uploads, layers, shapes, QR codes and freehand drawing, on desktop and mobile.
- A template library that customers can start from.
- Print output: Premium exports PDF print files; check a sample against your printer's spec.
- Artwork review: approve or decline designs, with an email to the customer.
- AI Print-QA (Preflight) (2.10.0): checks uploaded artwork for resolution, colour mode, fonts, bleed and transparency.
- AI on your licence (2.12): Background Remover, Upscale and Preflight run on your Cmsmart licence and tokens.
- AI access controls (2.15): choose who can use AI tools: everyone, signed-in members or paying customers.
- Quotes area (2.12): customers get a Quotes section in My Account.
- A 30-day free trial from your Cmsmart dashboard.
How the switch works
- Free assessment. You share FPD settings exports or screenshots, a product list and admin access to a staging copy; we send a written assessment.
- Staging set-up. We install the Cmsmart plugin on a staging copy. FPD stays active on live products.
- Rebuild. Product set-ups, templates, fonts and clipart, starting with your best sellers.
- Price and print check. We test prices and compare sample print files with your print specs.
- Your review (UAT). You place test orders on staging and sign off.
- Go-live. Products switch over in batches; FPD is turned off on the products we have moved.
- Aftercare. Support runs through tickets in your Cmsmart dashboard; ongoing maintenance is available.
What you provide
- Admin access to a staging copy of your store, or permission to create one.
- A list of the FPD products to move, in order of priority.
- Original template, clipart and font files, and confirmation that your font licences allow web use.
- Your printer's file specs: size, bleed, colour mode and file type.
- Pricing rules, plus two or three sample orders to use as test cases.
- One contact person who can review and approve each batch.
We use the minimum access we need, work on staging and delete copies of your data after handover.

- Timeline and scope are confirmed in your written assessment. They depend on the number of customisable products and templates, your pricing rules and review speed.
Terms
- The assessment is free and you do not have to buy anything.
- The migration work is quoted separately, based on the assessment.
- A Cmsmart Premium licence is needed for production features such as PDF print files (see pricing).
- We do not promise pixel-identical templates or unchanged search rankings; WooCommerce product URLs stay unchanged.
- Scope, price and timeline are confirmed in a written proposal before any work starts.
- We work on a staging copy, or take a full backup before touching your live store.
- Communication, approvals and change requests run through tickets in your Cmsmart dashboard.
- Third-party licences (themes, plugins, fonts, hosting) are not included unless the proposal lists them.
- You own the code and content we build for you.

Can you import my Fancy Product Designer templates automatically?
No. There is no automatic importer between FPD and Cmsmart. We rebuild templates in Cmsmart from your original files. Even FPD's publisher moves customers to Chamevo by recreating products, not by importing them.
Will I lose my WooCommerce orders or customers?
No. Orders, customers and products are WooCommerce data and stay in your database when you change the product designer plugin. We work on a staging copy first and take a backup before go-live.
What happens to designs on past orders?
Order records stay in WooCommerce. Before we turn FPD off, we export any print files you still need from open orders. Cmsmart cannot open old FPD designs for editing, so reorders of old designs need to be set up again.
Can I run FPD and Cmsmart side by side during the move?
Yes, on staging and then product by product. Each product should use only one designer, so we switch products over in batches.
Do my URLs and SEO change?
Your WooCommerce product URLs stay the same, because we do not recreate the products. If anything has to change, we set up 301 redirects. We cannot promise rankings.
How much does it cost?
The assessment is free. The migration is quoted after the assessment, based on how many products and templates you have. The plugin licence is priced on the pricing page.
Should I move to Chamevo instead?
It may be the right choice if you want to stay with FPD's publisher. Choose Cmsmart if you want a WooCommerce plugin with a web-to-print workflow and a team that can build and maintain your store.
