In short
Your customers type a name, upload a photo and expect the order to arrive printed correctly. Behind that moment sits a chain of tools: the designer, the export step, and whatever prepares the file for your printer. When one link stops moving, the cost shows up as manual work in your production room.
That is the position many Fancy Product Designer alternative for WooCommerce searches come from. This guide scores Fancy Product Designer, its successor Chamevo, and Cmsmart Product Designer against the same criteria, with sources for every claim.
Fancy Product Designer alternative for WooCommerce: which should you choose?
Choose Chamevo if you want to stay with Fancy Product Designer's own publisher and need Shopify support. Choose Cmsmart Product Designer if you are WooCommerce-only and want a price matrix, artwork approval and print-ready PDFs from one team that can also build custom work. Choose neither if your current FPD licence still does the job.
Who is this comparison for?
This comparison is for WooCommerce owners currently on Fancy Product Designer: print shops, personalised-gift brands and B2B suppliers who need to keep taking orders while they decide whether to stay, move to Chamevo, or switch to Cmsmart Product Designer.
Methodology: how we scored Fancy Product Designer, Chamevo and Cmsmart
Our methodology scores each product on nine weighted criteria from evidence we could open and cite. Where FPD's site blocked automated reading, we marked that criterion "not verified" instead of guessing.
The nine criteria total 100 points: 20 points for the design editor, 15 points for print-ready output, 10 points each for pricing, B2B, AI, hosting, integrations and total cost, and 5 points for support.
We did not add these into one score: weight what matters to your store.
Why are WooCommerce shops looking for a Fancy Product Designer alternative?
Fancy Product Designer's publisher says existing licences keep running, but development, services and support have moved to Chamevo, and the Genius export and AI services went offline on 1 June 2026. Shops that relied on those services now prepare files by hand or look for another designer.
The publisher's own timeline [S1]:
The cost of the status quo. If your store used automated export or AI background removal, every order now carries manual file prep. A simple formula: orders per month × minutes of manual prep per order × hourly cost of the person doing it, plus reprints from files prepared by hand. If FPD still does everything you need, there is no rush.
What would good look like for your store?
A WooCommerce product designer that still gets support should let a buyer design on their phone, see the price update as they pick print options, and hand your team an approval step before the job prints — with nobody exporting, renaming or emailing a file by hand.
Example scenario. A buyer opens your product page late in the evening, picks a size and quantity, designs on a template and sees the price update. The next morning your team opens the order, sees the artwork, accepts it with one click and the print-ready PDF is already attached. Nobody exported, renamed or emailed a file.
Fancy Product Designer vs Cmsmart Product Designer: the feature-by-feature comparison
This table lists only what each vendor publishes or what we captured in the live product. FPD's vendor site and CodeCanyon page block automated reading, so FPD cells show only what its publisher states on its own blog; "not verified" means we found no public source we could read, not that the feature is missing.
[1]/[2] = Chamevo blog (S1/S2 in Sources). [3] = Cmsmart plugin page (C1). [4] = Cmsmart changelog (C2).
What do Fancy Product Designer, Chamevo and Cmsmart actually cost?
Fancy Product Designer was a one-time purchase with no ongoing fee. Chamevo and Cmsmart both charge a recurring fee instead — see the published figures below. The right comparison also counts the labour your team spends on file prep and rework, not just the software line.
Plans may change. Prices above are as published by each vendor and accessed 2026-10-05.
TCO formula, with your own variables:
Monthly software cost = plan fee + (orders/month over the plan's included orders) × overage rate.
Monthly labour cost = orders/month × manual file-prep minutes per order × hourly staff cost.
Monthly rework cost = orders/month × reprint rate × cost per reprint.
One-time migration cost = hours to rebuild templates, fonts and pricing rules × hourly rate (yours or ours).
Example inputs (illustrative only, use your own numbers): a shop doing 150 orders a month, 8 minutes of manual file prep per order at a labour cost of 25 dollars an hour, and roughly one reprint per 25 orders at a cost of 12 dollars each.
If the result is small for your store, staying on Fancy Product Designer is a valid decision, and our free migration assessment will say so.
How does Cmsmart solve this for a WooCommerce print shop?
The Cmsmart Product Designer (NBDesigner) keeps the whole job inside your own WooCommerce store: the buyer designs on the product page, picks print options and sees the price, and your team receives the design with the order, with an Accept/Decline step before production. Anything beyond that is scoped as custom development.
Six building blocks, and which are in the plugin today versus built as custom development:
Cmsmart insight: a designer switch is a workflow change, not a plugin swap, whichever product you move to. The part that takes real time is rebuilding templates, fonts and pricing rules, so list your best sellers first and move them in batches while the old tool keeps running on the rest.
Where Fancy Product Designer wins
If your licence still does the job, Fancy Product Designer wins on cost: it was a one-time CodeCanyon purchase, so there is no new subscription to pay. Its publisher's successor, Chamevo, also reaches further than Cmsmart by supporting Shopify as well as WooCommerce and standalone WordPress.
Where Cmsmart Product Designer wins
Cmsmart wins where a WooCommerce print shop wants print options, artwork approval and a print-ready PDF in one plugin that is still being actively developed, plus a team that builds the rest. It is not the right choice for a Shopify store or a shop whose FPD set-up already works.
What is the business value, and what should I measure?
Switching only pays off if it moves a number you already track: staff minutes per order, files held for rework, quote turnaround, or the monthly bill for your designer tool. Measure each one for a month before and after, using your own variables, on whichever product you choose.
ROI worksheet. Orders per month × manual file-prep minutes saved × hourly cost, plus reprint rate × cost per reprint from file errors, minus the new software fee. Use your own numbers; see the worked example above.
How do I set up Cmsmart next to Fancy Product Designer and migrate in stages?
Install Cmsmart on a staging copy of your store, enable the designer on one best-selling product, rebuild its print options and template, and run a test order through Accept/Decline before touching anything live. Keep Fancy Product Designer running on the other products until each is moved.
Risk checklist: open designs not yet ordered will not move to the new tool; check font/clipart licences allow web use; confirm your printer's specs against the defaults; heavy customisation may need custom pricing rules.

Where does custom development fit?
The plugin covers the designer, print options and approval. Cmsmart builds the rest on your WooCommerce store as custom development: pricing logic, integrations and approval flows specific to your business, delivered through discovery, solution design, sprints, QA, launch and support.

Three scenarios: who should choose what?
A print shop that needs approval and print-ready PDFs on WooCommerce fits Cmsmart. A brand already selling on Shopify, or wanting one vendor across platforms, fits Chamevo. A shop that never used the retired FPD services has no reason to move yet. Match your own situation to the closest one below.
Example scenario 1: the WooCommerce print shop. Genius export generated this shop's print files; now offline, every order needs manual prep. Recommended: Cmsmart, migrated in batches starting with the best sellers.
Example scenario 2: the multi-platform brand. A brand sells the same products on WooCommerce and Shopify and wants one designer across both. Recommended: Chamevo, the only option covering both platforms.
Example scenario 3: no urgent problem. This business never used Genius export or AI; its designer still works as before. Recommended: stay on Fancy Product Designer for now.

Frequently asked questions
Is Fancy Product Designer discontinued?
Its publisher says existing licences still run, but development, services and support have moved to Chamevo, and its Genius export and AI services went offline on 1 June 2026 [S1].
Can I import Fancy Product Designer templates into Cmsmart or Chamevo?
No, for either option. Cmsmart has no automatic importer; templates are rebuilt from your original files. Chamevo's own FAQ says the same: products are recreated, not imported [S2].
What does each option cost?
FPD was a one-time CodeCanyon purchase. Chamevo starts at $29/month for 50 orders [S2]. Cmsmart has a free Lite tier and a paid Premium plan with no order cap [C1]. See the pricing section above for the full figures.
Who owns my data if I switch?
With Cmsmart, orders, customers and products stay in your own WooCommerce database. Chamevo's hosting model is described on its own site [S2]; check its current terms for where design data lives.
Will switching delete my WooCommerce orders or product URLs?
No, with Cmsmart. Orders, customers and products belong to WooCommerce and stay in your database, and product URLs do not change because the products are not recreated.
What happens to designs customers saved but did not order?
They cannot move to a new designer, whichever one you choose. Tell customers before you switch and keep the old tool running until those designs are ordered or expire.
Can Cmsmart do the migration for me?
Yes. Cmsmart offers a free written migration assessment and quotes the work separately. See switch from Fancy Product Designer to Cmsmart and the free migration assessment.
